This year, there’s a novelty awaiting clients at the Peck boutique of flavors in Forte dei Marmi’s Piazza Marconi: manager Silvia Altini, who makes sure that everything is always perfect at the store. Born in Versilia, she fine-tuned her arts as a restaurateur and sommelier in France and today directs the “seafront” sales point of a brand which for more than 140 years has been a mecca for refined palates.

The shelves, the deli counter, even the store windows are full of treats certain to tickle the appetite. Since this early spring’s opening, it has been abundantly clear that this season’s offer is defined by gourmet curiosities. The new entry for Easter, the “Egg alla Milanese,” is a creation by pastry chef Galileo Reposo, who pairs the finest chocolate with ingredients “stolen” from the most iconic dish in Lombard cuisine, the risotto of the same name: rice (puffed, in this case) and saffron.

The creativity of the Via Spadari universe brings the great classics of spring and summer to Forte, in a mix of tradition and modernity. “The lamb and kid goat that always have a place on party tables, like the steamed sturgeon, or sole, or octopus au naturel that are standard fare at a summer garden supper, rediscover their intensity of flavor and even more delicate textures thanks to sous vide slow cooking at low temperatures,” Vice Chairman and CEO Leone Marzotto clarifies. “Thanks to this vacuum technique, these raw materials retain all their moisture and flavor – and guarantee starred restaurant quality.”

The gastronomy offer is supported by the well-stocked enoteca, with its more than 500 labels. “In addition to the Super Tuscans, Barolos and Barbareschis and the finest Bordeaux, we invite clients to discover small producers and unusual territories and grape varieties: a Bonarda di Picchioni, very affordable yet truly surprising; Pignolo, a grape indigenous to Friuli and Slovenia, exalted by Gravner in his Rosso Breg; Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs from Australia and New Zealand that will surprise even the most expert noses,” smiles Marzotto.
