Tucked into the heart of the Apuan shipbuilding district, The Village is an exclusive yet warmly welcoming destination. For its location (it is part of the complex where The Italian Sea Group builds its magnificent yachts), its privileged atmosphere, the quality of its offer. It is an eminently fascinating center, something quite new for these shores: the right address for meeting friends for a drink concocted using the very best craft and international distillates, or for a dinner “signed” by Chef Alessandro Lucchinelli, back in his homeland after refining his art during years of travelling.

The Village is something fresh and novel, quite different from Versilia’s usual venues but with all the quality typical of Versilia. Admission is restricted to club card holders, or by invitation. The evening kicks off with a good cocktail in the outdoor seating area or inside, at the long, convivial table or in the room furnished with Chesterfield sofas, passing the time playing chess or billiards.

The jewel in the Village crown is as always the cuisine, where fish and seafood prevail on a menu listing classic local recipes contaminated with a creative incursion here and there – and supported by the wine cellar’s four hundred or so labels. Gourmet proposals include: raw seafood platter, miso-glazed black cod, black squid ink ravioli filled with striped prawn and scallop on a curry sauce, scorpionfish with pak choi and wasabi mashed potatoes. Highly distinctive though familiar, Lucchinelli’s hand is that of a professional whose first allegiance is to the client.

For dessert, on request, the maître can prepare crêpes suzette at the table, old-school style. And if you’re lucky (if it’s available), you can book the “captain’s table” in the most secluded corner of the dining area, on request hidden away from prying eyes.
