the waltz of two cultures
Enoteca Giulia
This “delicious” lookout on one of Forte’s historic streets is celebrating its twentieth summer with all the energy of the first, transmitted by Giulia’s smile and Puchi’s enthusiasm. They are a couple who incarnate the identities of Versilia and Castille, a perfect marriage of the best sides of two cultures, always ready to take to the floor in a heady waltz of specialties played by cook Federica Manfrini: gnocchi à la bagna cauda with Cantabrian anchovies, black garlic, creamy Mahón-Menorca cheese, Atlantic red prawns tartare, and turmeric breadcrumbs; spaghetti with sun-dried Cadiz tuna mojama and date tomato confit, clam-and-parsley pesto, and finely-chopped almonds. New recipes that remind us how Giulia is always on the go – except with such super-classics as paella and the Spanish carbonara pasta. The cellar (Enoteca Giulia is also a wine shop, don’t forget!) is liberally stocked with Italian, French, and Spanish labels. Giulia concocts two sangrias: one classic red, one with sparkling Cava blanco. And fantastic take-aways: paella and tapas, Serrano ham, Pata Negra – and of course, wines!
