What does it really mean, for a hotel, to put clients at the center of attention? In the Principe Forte dei Marmi philosophy, granting clients’ every wish is not enough; they need to be offered the unexpected, the chance to savor surprising, unanticipated joys and pleasures. Such as a day aboard a yacht in the most fascinating places in nearby Liguria or the Tuscan Archipelago. Or a day of pampering at the hotel’s aptly-named Egoista spa.

The yacht is the Marina di Principe, a 24-meter Mazarin out- fitted in the hotel’s signature style of refined elegance. It can sleep up to twelve guests, plus the crew, for excursions of several days’ duration. “But the ideal options,” points out Cristina Vascellari, the hotel’s ceo, “are the day cruises; Portofino, Porto Venere, the Cinque Terre are all perfect destinations at perfect distances.”

Diving off the deck, exploring hidden coves, visiting enchanting seaside towns. And for lunch, a cocktail on the sky deck and, perhaps, fabulous dishes prepared by the on-board chef, in this case none other than Valentino Cassanelli, the “star” at Lux Lucis. Or, perhaps, a light midday meal put together by the yacht’s galley brigade.

Back on dry land, at Egoista Spa, a sensation of peacefulness and wellbeing envelops us with warmth, wafting fragrances, and indirect natural light. And – for anyone who so desires – perfect solitude: it is in fact possible to book the entire structure – although access to the spa is always limited. Guests may choose the spa’s water features: pool, Finnish sauna, biosauna, ice falls, emotional showers. And try the many different massage and face and body rituals. The treatment devices are all latest-generation and the products are selected not only on the basis of quality but also of sustainability, with 100% natural ingredients. But above all, it’s the attention and the competence of the team led by Tania Loglisci that makes the difference.
