The approach to therapy taken by Antonio Viti and his équipe at the Centro Fisioterapico Apuano defines a method, in its own way innovative and revolutionary, that consists of monitoring patients’ health via analysis of heart rate variability (HRV). As explained by Viti, who has conducted numerous studies on the subject and has published works on genetics and quantum physics, “We monitor the patient throughout the entire course of treatment, taking as references both objective scientific health data and subjective values. And this continues until bodily homeostasis is achieved.” Simply put, his is a process that permits assessing the overall level of stress on the body by recording the heart’s electrical activity; the recording provides highly-detailed information about the autonomous nervous system. It is a measurement of physiological variability, Viti continues, “that indicates the degree of psycho-physical adaptability of which the patient is capable in response to various factors such as physical exercise, mental stress, anxiety, and anger, and with a series of data points orients us as we develop therapy plans.” Because only by listening closely to patients’ pain and distress is it possible to start on the path to healing.
