After earning his degree at Milan Polytechnic in 2015, architect Antonio Tanzini chose to return to Forte dei Marmi, spurred by his love for the place he was born and raised and attracted by its beauty. He accrued on-the-ground experience at several local architectural firms and in 2018 opened his own studio on one of Forte’s busiest streets, next door to his family’s real estate agency – active in its sector since 1985.

Tanzini’s architecture balances respect for the characteristic and unique Forte dei Marmi style with the renewal necessary to best cater to the tastes of a clientele in continual evolution. Glass and transparencies dominate in his projects: his large apertures let in natural daylight and blur the edge between interior and outdoor spaces. He gives great importance to gardens; greenery is always present and often characterizes both the facades and the roofs. The elevations are intentionally asymmetrical and fragmented, with interpenetrating volumes and such cladding materials as travertine split face tile, another leitmotif in his work. The project illustrated here arose from a perfect synergy between Tanzini and his client, who deferred in toto to the architect’s judgment.

The studio is active with important projects in several sectors, from the residential to hospitality and accommodations, and for the most part in Versilia. Teamwork has proved fundamental. The studio’s lineup counts seven professionals – Alice, Andrea, Briseide, Marco, Nicola, Tommaso, and Tanzini himself – all of different ages and each possessing different skills. All animated by a common architectural vision, all willing and ready to best combine innovation and experience, to accompany each client from an idea and pre-design work through to building completion and the interior design project.
