the sustainable elegance of silk
ViRobe
Creativity and passion for sartorial excellence derive from their father’s Campanian origins. From their mother’s German origins, a love for details. Virginia and Roberta Cammarano, sisters of twenty-five and twenty-eight and from Versilia by adoption, learned the rest while one was studying fashion in Milan, and the other economics in London. The crowning of a dream was the foundation of ViRobe, a portmanteau of their two names, but also a synthesis of their open outlook on the thousand cultures of the world (robe means – in fact – dress in different languages). Together they offer exquisite handcrafted, premium, and sustainable collections with a powerful identity.
The iconic garment is the La Scala gown that embodies timeless elegance as its hallmark. Divided between Italy and Germany, ViRobe’s creative minds have found the beating heart of their quest in the Indian region of Assam. The “non-violent silk” – the precious and exclusive Eri silk – is the result of the industriousness of a silkworm, which is not sacrificed during the production process; in fact, it is waited for it to leave the cocoon before gentle harvesting. The ViRobe garments use a silk that is spun and woven by hand, following ancient Indian traditions, and dyed by yarn or piece with tea leaves, nuts, flowers, turmeric, and other organic spices. The creative process takes place in Tuscany, from the design of the robes in collaboration with Georgian designer Tina Ordjonikidze, to the tailoring using sartorial methods; customers can find these dresses in the Zoe boutique in Pietrasanta, and in exclusive multi-brand stores in Stuttgart, Germany, and from the summer in Forte dei Marmi.
This year, after the two 2023 editions, the brand will feature new proposals. “Our concept of fashion goes beyond seasonality”, Virginia and Roberta premise, “therefore, we selected a fabric that has the peculiarity of being cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The items in our editions are also continuous; they are robes that the customers can request at any time”.
A new concept of sustainable and ethical luxury envelops the elegant and extremely feminine garments with a delicate texture and created in neutral shades, for a woman who indulges in Forte’s flair as well as in the dynamism of the city.
